Following the successful installation campaign at the Noirmoutier Offshore Wind Farm, CASC was engaged to safely demobilise the vessel's traverse system before quickly remobilising it for the next phase of operations supporting the Dieppe-Le Tréport Offshore Wind Farm in France.
The project required seamless coordination, specialist lifting expertise, and efficient execution to ensure the vessel remained ready for deployment while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
Rapid Transition Between Offshore Wind Projects
Drawing on extensive offshore wind and heavy-lift experience, the CASC team managed the complete transition of the traverse system between two major offshore wind developments.
Working within a planned programme of 72 hours, the team successfully completed all demobilisation and mobilisation activities in just 44 hours, saving approximately 39% of the allocated project time while maintaining strict quality and safety standards throughout.
Through a structured and solution-focused approach, CASC:
Safely demobilised the existing traverse system supporting Noirmoutier Offshore Wind Farm
Mobilised and installed the traverse system for Dieppe-Le Tréport Offshore Wind Farm
Maintained rigorous quality control throughout all phases of the project
Applied practical problem-solving to overcome operational challenges
Delivered the programme significantly ahead of schedule without compromising safety or workmanship
The team successfully completed all acitivities in just 44 hours, saving approximately 39% of the allocated project time
Specialist Skills for Complex Heavy-Lift Operations
The project involved working at height while handling critical lifting equipment in a demanding operational environment.
CASC deployed a team with specialist competencies across:
Precision torquing operations
Working at height, 47 metres above sea level
Fabrication and modification works
Equipment inspection and quality assurance
Rigging and heavy-lifting operations
Safe slinging and handling of critical loads
Mobilising Vole Au Vent's 1,500-tonne main crane with a working radius of 21.5 metres and a boom length of 105 metres required meticulous planning, precise execution, and attention to detail throughout the project.
Delivering Efficiency Through Global Experience
Traverse systems are critical components in offshore wind installation operations, enabling the safe and controlled movement of heavy turbine components at sea.
Successful demobilisation and mobilisation depend on technical expertise, careful planning, and the ability to respond quickly to operational challenges. CASC's team have supported traverse installations, maintenance and deconstruction across the UK, Europe, Asia, and North America, building extensive global experience across a wide range of offshore wind turbine installation vessels.
Combined with an agile, solution-focused approach, this experience enabled the CASC team to complete the mobilisation significantly ahead of programme while maintaining the highest standards of safety and workmanship.
Supporting France's Renewable Energy Future
CASC was proud to support our partner, Siemens Gamesa across both the Noirmoutier and Dieppe-Le Tréport Offshore Wind Farms.
Together, these landmark projects will provide almost 1 GW of renewable energy generation capacity, supplying clean electricity to hundreds of thousands of homes across France and supporting the country's long-term energy transition goals.
By successfully delivering specialist traverse demobilisation and mobilisation services onboard Vole Au Vent, CASC helped ensure these significant offshore wind developments remained on track, further demonstrating the company's ability to deliver specialist solutions in complex, time-critical offshore environments.
